A turning point in the friendship between strident anti-communist intelligence strategist Jack Valenti and his friend Walt Rostow, a MIT theorist who Valenti recommended for the NSA job with LBJ.
On May 14, 1973, Walt W. Rostow, who had been national security adviser during some of the darkest days of the Vietnam War, a war that his vision of spreading capitalism by force exacerbated, typed a three-page “memorandum for the record” summarizing a secret file that his former boss, President Lyndon Johnson, had amassed on what may have been Richard Nixon’s dirtiest trick, the sabotaging of Vietnam peace talks to win the 1968 election.
At that time the Plumbers were just proven in LA courtroom to have spent years burning down offices looking for the X-File docs, breaking into Brookings, breaking into Ellsberg’s psychiatrist office. Amazingly, the judge Matthew Byrne threw out the prosecution of Ellsberg due to Nixon’s overreach on May 11, 1973, and with it a ton of additional evidence was hidden and remains still under judicial seal thanks to a Nixon & CIA friendly judge. Sealing the evidence was protecting the CIA and White House.
Previously, in 1972, it was revealed (thanks to the Plumbers), that Dem VP nominee Thomas Eagleton had received electroshock therapy at the Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota -Saint Mary’s Campus. When he got the nomination, a CIA-aligned psychiatrist requested his records claiming that he was Eagleton’s new doctor.
All of this evidence for these crimes and the crimes committed when hounding Ted Kennedy after Chappaquiddick were sealed for eternity.
This had something to do with the disappearance of Dorothy Hunt’s psychiatrist asset.
Eagleton was hounded by J. Edgar Hoover since 1958 and the St. Louis Field Office likely had the dirt for years.
